Currently embarking on his Savanna Premium Cider South African Tour and slated to perform in Durban, Noah took the opportunity to set the record straight during an interview.
In his conversation with Carol Ofori on East Coast Radio, Noah expressed his amusement at the dynamics of online media, emphasizing the tendency of some outlets to sensationalize without careful examination.
"This is the thing ... I’ve learned about media online is that people don’t read or they just write articles. Sometimes, I just think it’s AI that’s writing these articles."

Noah proceeded to dispel the claims, stating, "First of all, there is nothing with SA tourism. No one from SA Tourism approached me; there’s nothing from government. I was talking to hotel groups, cause you know South Africa, we need to boost our tourism."
Given the significance of tourism to South Africa's GDP, Noah explained his discussions with key industry stakeholders, including hotel owners, Airbnb hosts, game lodges, and safari operators, on strategies to promote South Africa as a tourist destination.

Noah, in his characteristic humorous style, playfully lamented the situation, humorously commenting on how he wished he actually possessed the vast sums of money that some reports were attributing to him. He quipped about the idea of hiring newspaper staff to fabricate his bank balance, illustrating the absurdity of the rumors.
In a related development, it was disclosed that Tandi Mahambehlala, the chairperson of the portfolio committee on tourism, had inquired with Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille about Trevor Noah's participation in the promotional video. Minister de Lille clarified that the R33 million funding for the project would not burden taxpayers, as it was a contribution from the Tourism Business Council of Southern Africa.
