On Tuesday, an Ekurhuleni man accused of fatally beating his wife opted not to seek bail in the Tsakane magistrate's court.

John Nkgudi, 52, was arrested in January when his wife Tinny Nkgudi was discovered in the bathroom in Tsakane, east of Johannesburg, with many head injuries and other wounds all over her body by her daughter. Her grandson was the only one who witnessed the murder.

Nkgudi reportedly returned home intoxicated in the middle of the night and got into a dispute with his wife, who was in the couple's bed with their six-year-old grandson, according to Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Lumka Mahanjana.

Tinny's bruised corpse was discovered the next day when her daughter arrived home from work. A neighbor assisted her in breaching the security gate and gaining access to the residence, where her kid was discovered hiding in a wardrobe. Nkgudi was apprehended two days later in Vukuzenzele in a hut.
