Mike Lukhubene, a former Chippa United and Royal AM coach, was gunned down on Sunday afternoon at the Coke Cup tournament in Khayelitsha. Police arrived at the scene at a Site C soccer field to find his body. It is unclear what led to his shooting as the Police investigations are still ongoing. He was coaching one of the amateur sides in the Western Cape and graced the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs with his presence in Pietermaritzburg. The President, The Executive, and the Regional Executive Committee have all been informed of the latest developments. They will remain abreast of products as and when declared by local law enforcement and SAPS. SAFA Cape Town Vice President, Nomonde Ndyoko, was at the venue on the day and was already outside when notified of the news. SAFA Cape Town Vice President, Bennett Bailey, expressed his condolences to those affected by the incident and urged the football community not to share any information about the incident, including witness reports or images, out of respect for the families involved. President Bennett Bailey also expressed his condolences to those affected by the tragedy. SAFA Cape Town will only comment further on the matter once more information is available.
