In a brazen daylight incident, a building contractor fell victim to an armed robbery, losing an undisclosed sum of money in Trenance Park, KwaZulu-Natal. The incident occurred on Marula Circle during the afternoon of August 18, 2023.

Upon receiving the distress call, members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) swiftly responded to the scene, arriving at approximately 16:32. Their prompt arrival allowed them to engage with the victim and gather crucial details about the robbery.

According to the account provided by the victim, he had been in the process of distributing envelopes containing cash to his employees when he was suddenly confronted by two unidentified individuals. The confrontation took a menacing turn when one of the suspects brandished a firearm, coercing the contractor out of his bakkie.

Under the threat of the firearm, the perpetrators seized the envelopes of cash and swiftly disappeared into the nearby bush, evading capture. In the wake of the robbery, the victim's bakkie began to roll unattended, eventually coming to a halt on an embankment situated approximately 50 meters away from the scene.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the aftermath of this harrowing incident. The victim, while shaken by the ordeal, managed to escape physical harm.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the robbery, working diligently to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen funds. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by criminal activities even in well-frequented areas, underscoring the importance of continued vigilance and effective law enforcement efforts to maintain public safety.
