Soulja Boy has addressed the criticisms he's faced throughout his career by reflecting on his impact on Hip Hop during its 50th anniversary. In a recent tweet on Sunday (August 13), the Chicago rapper expressed, "Upon entering the music scene, I was accused of killing Hip Hop. However, in reality, I pioneered the new wave of Hip Hop through my utilization of the internet and streaming platforms. I was ahead of my time. #HipHop50."

He went on to say, "Presently, it's common to see artists chronicling their careers through vlogs, similar to what I initiated. Uploading music to the internet has become the norm, just as I began. Additionally, the trend of artists engaging with their fans through live streams can also be attributed to my influence. Whether acknowledged or not, I played a crucial role. Recognition and appreciation may be given or withheld, but the impact remains undeniable."
