Football icon Jay-Jay Okocha has endorsed the idea of Pitso Mosimane becoming the coach of the Super Eagles, believing that the highly experienced South African coach could bring valuable expertise to the Nigerian national team. This endorsement comes amid rumors linking Mosimane to the coaching position after the current head coach, Jose Peseiro, faced criticism following disappointing results in the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
In a recent interview, Mosimane openly expressed his interest in coaching a national team. As a free agent following his departure from Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates, Mosimane's potential move to the Super Eagles is generating attention.
Okocha, speaking at the Bundesliga 60-year celebration, expressed enthusiasm for a coach of Mosimane’s caliber leading the Super Eagles. He highlighted Mosimane's impressive track record and extensive experience in African football.
Okocha also acknowledged that despite having star players like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles are not currently performing at their expected level. He emphasized the need to restore the team's status among the best in Africa.
