Mthandeni "Igcokama Elisha" Manqele and Lwah Ndlunkulu were set to perform at the Paris Song of The Year Celebration. Still, their rival Khuzani won the contest with his song Umjolo Lowo. Despite this, fans still attended the celebration gig in Hlabisa, northern KZN. Lwah Ndlunkulu missed the event, and fans flooded her Instagram with questions about why she wasn't on the line-up.
Mthandeni and Lwah Ndlunkulu, who hails from the same area in Hlabisa, collaborated in Paris that fused maskandi and Afro-pop. Their song reached platinum status, garnering over 10 million YouTube views and five million streams on Spotify. On December 7, the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) awarded the duo with a certified platinum plaque.
Lwah Ndlunkulu, signed under Nkabi Records, could not perform for free due to protocol violations. She is considered Nkabi Record's First Lady, has been featured on songs by her stablemates, and has produced her own hits. Attendees also enjoyed other artists, including maskandi stars like Shwi noMtekhala, Mfezemnyama, Thokozani Langa, Sgwebo Sentambo, and Amacekeceke. Different genres included DJ Tira, DJ Thukzin, Thina Zungu, and Jumbo.
Fans were treated to a feast of fresh meat from slaughtered cattle as Mthandeni showed his appreciation for their support.
