A massive gas blast in Nairobi, Kenya has killed at least two people and injured 222 others. The blast occurred around 23:30 GMT in Embakasi district, igniting a massive fire that damaged homes, businesses, and cars. The cause of the blast is still being determined, and a command center has been set up to coordinate rescue operations.

The blaze spread through several apartment complexes, causing fears that the number of casualties could increase further. Witnesses reported feeling tremors immediately after the blast, with one person being burnt by an exploding gas canister as he tried to escape.

An unnamed eyewitness described the explosions, fireballs, and people screaming and running for fear of more explosions. The Kenya Red Cross has stated that crews have been "tirelessly battling the flames" and advised Kenyans to keep off the cordoned area to allow the rescue mission to proceed with minimal disruptions.
