The Limpopo police apprehended a 33-year-old male suspected of attempting to smuggle a vehicle out of South Africa. The Provincial Anti-Smuggling Task Team intercepted the suspect's Toyota Fortuner near the Groblers Bridge Border Post in the Tomburke policing area as he was trying to cross into Botswana.

The operation was based on actionable intelligence indicating that the vehicle had been reported stolen at the Mall of Africa in Midrand, Gauteng, the previous week. It was believed that the vehicle was en route to Zimbabwe via the Plumtree border post.

The suspect is facing charges related to the possession of presumed stolen property and is scheduled to appear before the Mokerong Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the team for their vigilance and efforts in combating vehicle theft and smuggling.
