Rena Molale, a resident of Jacksonville, Roodepan, in Kimberley, is facing water outages for hours on end. The city's water treatment plants are dysfunctional due to years of poor maintenance and technical and mechanical challenges. However, an intervention to address critical maintenance of Kimberley's bulk water supply infrastructure is under way, with three contracts worth R88.26 million awarded.

The Sol Plaatje Municipality released a notice stating that the Daytime Water Supply Interruption will be effected from 12H00 to 17H00 on Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 March 2024. The municipality is working to enhance storage capacity at the Newton Reservoirs to stabilize supply for much of the working week. The situation has affected Molale's views on the coming elections, as she is tired and doesn't know who to vote for due to lies from those who come to her.

Daren Beykes, a general worker at the Just-Rite supermarket in Roodepan, is one of the residents who buys water from the supermarket. The store specializes in cosmetic products, toys, hair and wigs, and has been without water for over seven days. Beykes is concerned that the water shortage is not being communicated to the residents, as they need it for washing, cooking, and drinking.

Noëline Joseph, a student studying in Kimberley for two weeks, also finds the water situation in Kimberley a problem. She finds it difficult to do laundry on weekends and prepare for class when the water is off. However, Joseph hasn't given up hope, believing that if everyone contributes and strives towards success, then circumstances don't matter. As long as a person perseveres, the circumstances don't matter.

In conclusion, the water crisis in Kimberley is affecting residents like Molale, who is struggling to provide for her family. The Sol Plaatje Municipality is working to address the issue by enhancing storage capacity at the Newton Reservoirs and ensuring that residents have access to water.
