Two Suspects in Custody Following Strand Business Robbery

The efficient and swift action of Strand and Lwandle SAPS members resulted in the arrest of two suspects following a business robbery in Strand on Thursday, 04 April 2024.

The incident occurred in Wilimina Street, Strand, where unknown suspects entered a retail store and robbed it of cigarettes, vapes, sweets, and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving the complaint, Strand police responded promptly.

Police officers spotted the suspects' vehicle and engaged in a high-speed chase. The pursuit came to a halt when the suspects' vehicle collided with another vehicle. Despite their attempt to flee, the suspects were apprehended by the police members. Two adult male suspects were arrested, and police recovered a 9mm pistol and some of the stolen items.

The suspects are facing charges of business robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, and possession of stolen property. They are expected to appear in the Strand Magistrates’ Court to face these charges.

The SAPS has commended the swift response and dedication of its members in apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen items. They have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
