Two Arrested for Murder of Five-Year-Old Ditebogo Phalane

Breakthrough in Ditebogo Phalane Murder Case

A joint operation by the Hawks' Pretoria-based Tactical Operations Management Section (TOMS), Akasia Crime Prevention unit, and Tshwane District Crime Intelligence has led to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the murder of five-year-old Ditebogo Phalane.

The suspects, aged 29 and 30, were taken into custody on Monday, May 20, 2024, following a tip-off that led investigators to Soshanguve and Atteridgeville. Two unlicensed firearms were also recovered during the operation, with one believed to be the weapon used in Phalane's killing.

One of the suspects is currently out on bail for unrelated charges, including hijacking, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The two suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, to face charges related to Phalane's murder.

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify and apprehend any additional suspects linked to the crime.

This breakthrough is a significant step towards justice for Ditebogo Phalane and his family, and highlights the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts in combating crime.
