A fellow UCT student shared a video on Twitter on Saturday, 11 March 2023, showing students being shot at by the police.
According to this source who goes by the Twitter handle @abichalusamba
"The police shot at unarmed and peaceful students on middle @UCT_news where is sue Harrison to address students? She inflicted this violence against us if she had a shred of humanity in her the least she could do is be here to pick up our bodies."
@abichalusamba continued with the thread and shared a photo of the email they received from the institution.
@abichalusamba accompanied this shared pictured with the following message:
"What’s worse is that her office gave the instruction that the academic programme must go on. We were told by staff in the law faculty to remain on campus and less then 15mins later we were brutalised by the police who came in armed and with the intention to use force."
