A 17-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by his family, including his mother, after he was suspected of raping his one-year-old sister and another juvenile in the Shayamoya district of Verulam, KwaZulu Natal.

According to Response Unit South African (RUSA) spokeswoman Prem Belram, the deceased raped his sister on Friday and fled his home due to the crime. On Saturday morning, the mother, her three brothers, and a teenage neighbor tracked down the youngster at his father's house and hauled him back home. He suffered blunt force damage to various body regions and was pronounced dead on the site by RUSA doctors. One of the uncles gave up the padlock key to the police on the site.

Belram said:

The family, including the mother, allegedly bound his hands behind his back with a metal chain which was secured with a padlock. They started beating him in the house before dragging him onto the streets, where the community joined in the attack.

KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda verified the event. Six people have been detained concerning the Saturday morning murder of a 17-year-old kid in Verulam. The police were looking for the dead youngster in a rape investigation. When authorities arrived at the deceased's home in Hezelmere's Shayamoya neighborhood, they discovered a mob that had reportedly slain the suspect. The people apprehended will face murder and abduction charges.
