Trevor Noah, a South African-born comedian, has been making waves on Netflix with his latest comedy special, "Where Was I." The show, released in December, has been among the most watched during the holiday season in South Africa, the US, and the UK. With his humorous intellect, tales from his international adventures, attention to detail, and perspective on cultural norms, it is no surprise that Noah's comedy show remains among the most-watched content on Netflix.
After leaving the helm of "The Daily Show," Noah embarked on his global and ongoing "Off the Record Tour" stand-up tour, which was released for his Netflix special. This marks Noah's fourth comedy special for the streaming special, following widespread successes with his other Netflix comedic offerings such as "Son of Patricia" and "Afraid of the Dark."
One standout aspect of Noah's stand-up comedy show is his unique perspective on national anthems, which he delivers in his native language. In an interview with "Condé Nast Traveller," Noah explained his fascination with nationalism and how people have an affinity for national anthems depending on the day and event. He also highlighted that national anthems are one of the best examples of how people have an affinity for national anthems that they might not otherwise have.
An example of this is losing his luggage in Paris, a travel mishap that happens all the time. Noah also shared his list of the five things white people love most, ranking museums as number five, followed by swimming, being stunned, and "just being white." He awarded the top honor to Neil Diamond's 1969 hit "Sweet Caroline" for the top honor.
Apart from his comedy show, Noah has been enjoying his time as the host of the Spotify podcast "What Now? With Trevor Noah," where he has interviewed Bill Gates and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. This year, The Funnyman can also look forward to hosting the Grammys for the fourth time and is nominated for Best Comedy Album along with Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, and Wanda Sykes. "Where Was I" is currently streaming on Netflix.
