Sean "Diddy" Combs has issued an apology for his past actions towards his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura. A video released by CNN earlier this week showed Combs physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. In a statement posted on his Instagram page, Combs took full responsibility for his actions, calling them "inexcusable" and stating that he was "disgusted" by his behavior. He also mentioned seeking professional help, including therapy and rehab, and expressed his commitment to being a better person.

However, lawyers for Ventura have dismissed Combs' apology as insincere, stating that it is "more about himself than the many people he has hurt." They pointed out that Combs had previously denied any wrongdoing and suggested that his victims were seeking financial gain. The lawyers also highlighted that Combs only apologized after his denials were proven false, showing his "pathetic desperation."

The video footage, which appears to be a compilation of surveillance footage angles dated March 5, 2016, shows Combs pushing Ventura to the ground and kicking her while she is on the ground. He also attempts to drag her by her shirt and throw an object at her. The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office has stated that the alleged assault may be too old to prosecute.

Ventura and Combs had a relationship that began when she was 19 and he was 37. Last November, Ventura settled a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of rape and sexual trafficking over a decade, for an undisclosed sum. Combs' lawyer stated at the time that the settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing. Since then, several other women have filed lawsuits accusing Combs of sexual and physical abuse. His homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided last month as part of a federal investigation into human trafficking.
